2006 Paul Short Invitational

The Generals travelled up to the Paul Short Invitational  hosted by Lehigh University.  The competitive meet featured division 1, 2 & 3 schools with some of the top teams in the country.  The women finished 7th out of 27 teams while the men were 9th out of 26 schools.

 

The women were led by sophomore Jackie Burns who crossed the line 6th out of 231 runners with a 6,000m time of 22:34.  The time was the fastest 6K in W&L school history.  Freshmen Kat Telfeyan ran her first collegiate race finishing 32nd in 23:54.  Classmates Dorothy Todd (49th), 24:16 and  Mary Frances Weatherly (63rd), 24:30 were followed up by sophomore Becca Taylor who finished 79th crossing the line in 24:45.  Freshmen Annie Kasper was 107th in 25:29.

 

Sophomore Michael Welsh led the charge for the men with a 13th place finish (out of 273) running 26:34, classmate Vance Berry was 30th running a time of 26:58.  Junior Andrew Friski was 52nd with a time of 27:16 and Tom Brower was right behind in 57th (27:19).  Freshmen Stuart Vassey rounded out the top five placing 107th (28:19) with classmates Ben Stutts (28:36) and Elliott O'Brien (28:39) finishing 112th and 113th respectively.
