2008 Liberty Asics Invitational & Multi's
The Generals competed at the Liberty Asics Invite. Seven first place finishes and five school records highlighted the meet.
Junior Stacy Doornbos accounted for 3 school records. She placed 3rd overall (1st D3) in the Heptathlon with an NCAA qualifying performance. Her score of 4,562 points set a new school record and as of 3/29 was the nations #1 performance. Her marks were 100H-15.31 (new school record), High Jump-5'1", Shot Put-30'7.5", 200m-25.58 (new school record), Long Jump-17'8.75", Javelin-71'7", 800m-2:24.11. Sophomores Maggie Sutherland and Sallie Armstrong also competed in the Heptathlon. Sutherlands score of 4,054 points was just shy of the NCAA mark. Armstrong has a PR score of 3,806 points. Junior Alysen Kuck was a double winner on the day. She placed 1st overall in the Javelin with a toss of 115'1". She then came back to placed 1st overall in the High Jump clearing 5'0.25". Classmate Elizabeth Webb placed 1st overall in the 5,000m. She setting a new PR running 17:55.65 leading from start to finish. In the same race sophomore Kat Telfeyan also set a new PR running 18:32.33 as the 2nd D3 finisher. Classmate Dorothy Todd was the top D3 finisher in the 1,500m racing to a new PR 5:01.48.
In the mens meet junior Michael Welsh was the top D3 finisher in the 5,000m running 15:47.62. Sophomore Ben Goetch placed 1st D3 in the High Jump Clearing 6'4.75". Junior Vance Berry was 3rd D3 in teh 1500m running 4:12.52. Sophomore Billy Billington placed 2nd overall in the Discus with a season opening toss of 137'1" and placed 3rd D3 in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 143'11". Junior Chip McCoy set a new PR in the 400H running 58.64 and classmate Sean Hurdis set two new PRs running 11.44 in the 100m and 22.86 in the 200m. Sophomore Brian Bondurant also set a new PR in the Long Jump with a leap of 20'2". Junior Alex Jackson placed 2nd among D3 racers i the 3000m steeplechase running 10:20.00.
