Cross Country Teams Place 3rd At NYU Invitational

Both men's and women's cross country teams battled hot and humid conditions to place 3rd at the competitive NYU invitational on the challenging and historic Van Cortlandt Park course in Bronx New York.
Women's Recap:
The lady Generals used a strong pack to place 3rd out of 22 schools (just 9 points out of second). 76 seconds separated their top 5 runners, who all finished in the top 40. Freshmen Jackie Burns lead the strong group effort finishing 8th overall with a time of 20:19. Sophomore Lindsay Erickson and Freshmen Becca Taylor came across the line 22nd and 23rd with times of 21:07 and 21:08. Just behind was Senior Mary Christopher in 21:20 and Junior Jenny Ratzel in 21:35. Senior Liz Twentyman had a strong finish to cross the line in 21:56 in 45th place while sophomore Jessica Buckingham (23:06) and Freshmen Elizabeth Webb (23:26) were 79th and 9th respectively.

Men's Recap:
The Generals harriers finished 3rd out of 24 schools. The duo of senior Nathan Johnson and sophomore Alex Mahoney put up strong performances finishing 4th and 5th overall out of 229 runners to lead the way. Johnson ran 27:28 with Mahoney in 27:30. Freshmen Michael Welsh had a solid race finishing 19th in 28:20. Sophomore Andrew Friski crossed the line in 35th with a time of 29:10 and Freshmen Alex Jackson rounded out the top five with a 57th place showing in 30:07. Sophomore Michael Keenan (32:39) and Freshmen Anthony Ives (32:40) worked together to finished 108th and 109th with junior David Kronenfeld finishing 183rd in 35:56.
