15th Annual Washington and Lee University Track & Field Invitational
The Generals opened up the outdoor season with their home invite. The women finished 1st of six schools and the men placed second of six schools. The Generals won the combined men's and women's team competition!
Women's Recap:
Both 4x100m and 4x400m relays kicked off the seaon with wins. The 4x100m team of Huntley Rodes, Caroline Davis, Tara Hildenbrand and Stacy Doornbos crossed the line in 52.46. The 4x400m team of Davis, Hildenbrand, Behmerwohld and Rodes won with a time of 4:19.03. Stacy Doornbos finished 1st in the Long Jump, 100m (13.16) and the 200m (26.77) setting a new school record. Caroline Davis finished 1st in the 400 hurdles crossing the line in 68.90. Sara Bemherwohld won the 100 hurdles running 17.17 Mary Christopher led a 1-2 finish winning in 5:03.54. Elizabeth Webb finished 2nd running 5:08.41. Liz Brandler won the Pole Vault setting a new meet record clearing 10'0" she also placed 3rd in the Triple Jump (32'7.75"). Alysen Kuck tied for 1st in the High Jump clearing 5'0.75"
Men's Recap:
Alex Mahoney led a 2,3,4 finish in the 1,500m. Mahoney placed 2nd running 4:08.28, Steve Rivoir crossed the line 3rd in 4:08.93 and Robbie Varipapa was 4th in 4:10.96 Chip McCoy placed 2nd in the 400m (51.83). Hammond McEver was 3rd in the 800m (2:05.37). Drew Martin won the Pole Vault clearing 13'6" and Brad Bender placed 2nd in the Long Jump (19'3.75") while Ryan Edge was 2nd in the High Jump clearing 5'10" Andrew Fischer placed 2nd in the Javelin with a toss of 158'3" and Ben Wilson placed 4th in the Shot Put throwing 38'0" The 4x100m relay team of Larry Clark, Wilson Robinson, Chip McCoy and Marshall Fench finished 2nd running 45.84 and the 4x400m Relay teamof McCoy, Robinson, Matt Harrison and French also placed 2nd running 3:30.45.
