Elon Invitational Elon, North Carolina
The Generals Track & Field teams wrapped up their spring break trip by competing against Division 1 and 3 schools at the Elon Invitational. Everyone battled heavy winds in the meet which was highlighted by 6 - first places finishes 2-school records and 31 top five performances!
Women's Recap:
Mary Christopher finished first overall in the 800m running away from the field in 2:28.73. Emily Barker finished first among D3 athletes in both the Shot Put (34-7) and the Javelin (92-11.5). Also in the Javelin, Cagla Defterali threw for the first time ever and finished 3rd D3 with a toss of 88-3. Blair Haws was the 1st D3 finisher and 2nd overall in the 1500m (5:09.37), while Lindsay Erickson was 2nd D3 (4th overall in 5:14.95) in a tough race where she lost her shoe on the first lap!! The record breakers were Sara Behmerwohld in the 100 hurdlers running 16.21 (finishing 2nd D3) and Lil Brandler in the Triple Jump (34-4.25). Huntley Rodes was 2nd D3 in the 400 hurdles (72.98) with Dargan McMaster finishing her first 400 hurdle race in 75.96 to finish 2nd D3. Meredith Walker brought home two third place finished (D3) in the 100m 13.45 and the Long Jump.
Men's Recap:
The men were led by Andrew Fischer who won the Javelin with a toss of 153-6. Wilson Robinson and Marston Smith finished 2nd and 3rd in the 400 hurdles (63.13 and 68.12). Nathan Johnson finished 2nd in the 800m in 2:02.45. Brian Krupczak crossed the line in the 100m in 11.46 (3rd D3 finisher). Ryan Edge was also 3rd in the High Jump with a leap of 5-10.
