 Kris Hoey is in her fifth season as head women’s cross country and associate head track & field coach at Washington and Lee University.

In the fall of 2007, Hoey led the lady Generals to their fourth-straight ODAC Cross Country Championship.  Six Runners earned All-Conference honores and Hoey was named the ODAC Coach of the Year.  W&L went on to place 3rd at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship meet with four athletes earning All-Region and two athletes adanced to race in the NCAA national championship meet.

Under Hoey's guidance, the Generals won their third-consecutive ODAC Championship in 2006, seven runners were named all-conference and Hoey was named the ODAC Coach of the Year. The season concluded with six all-state and four all-region citations and two runners, sophomore Jackie Burns and freshman Kat Telfeyan, competing in the NCAA Division III Championships.

The 2007 Track & Field season saw dominating performances from the women's distance crew.  Indoors they won the Distance Medley Relay and set an All-Time Conference record.  They had a 1-2-3-4 sweep of the Mile.  Had a 1-2 finish in the 800m and placed 2-3-4-5 in the 5,000m.  Outdoors the women went 1-2-3 in the 1,500m and Elizabeth Webb pulled off a historic triple winning the 1500m, 800m and 5,000m.

In Cross Country the Lady Generals won their second consecutive ODAC Championship in 2005, had the individual champion and a total of five All-ODAC performers.  Coach Hoey was named ODAC Coach-of-the-Year for the second straight season.  At the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship meet the Lady Generals made their biggest jump of all finishing 4th out of 22 teams and were just 2 points out of the third place slot.  This was a big move up from 7th place in the 2005 meet.  W&L earned two All-Region performances as well at the meet.

During the 2006 Track & Field season, Coach Kristinia Hoey oversees the distance crew which emassed big results showing signs of the bright future for the Generals:
Indoors she tutored the men's Mile Champion and the 5,000m Champion at the ODAC meet, while the Distance Medley Relay team established a new school record and earned All-ODAC runner up honors.  The women also earned the 5,000m championship and the Distance Medley Relay Championship at the conference meet.  During the outdoor championship meet the women had a strong 1-2 finish in the 1,500 meters and also earned runner up honors in the 800m and the men earned runner-up honors in the 1,500m.  In all the distance crew earned 5 Conference Championships and 9 All-Conference honors during the track season.

In the 2005 track season:
Both Men's and Women's Distance Medley Relay teams earned All-ODAC honors at the indoor championship meet. Additionally the men's DMR set a new indoor school record.  Blair Haws also earned All-ODAC honors with her 2nd place 1,500m finish at the indoor championship meet.  At the same meet Nathan Johnson earned his third ODAC championship winning the 5,000m.

Outdoors the success continued with the distance crew.  For the second year in a row Nathan Johnson won the 1,500m and the 5,000m championship.  He also qualified for the NCAA championships while breaking the school record in Steeplechase.  Lindsay Erickson also won the 5,000m at the ODAC Championships.  Both men's and women's outdoor DMRs set new school records.

Coach Kristina Hoey spent the 2003 season as a Volunteer Assistant Track & Field Coach at the Virginia Military Institute where she worked with the middle distance, distance runners and steeplechasers. In the Fall of 2002 she served as the Head Boys Cross Country Coach guiding the Rockbridge County High School Boys Cross Country Team to Runner-up honors at the competitive Virginia State Cross Country Championships,  where she also tutored the individual State, Region, and District Champion

Prior to her move to Virginia, Coach Kristina Hoey was the Head Cross Country / Track & Field Coach at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.  She also served as the Assistant Coach at WCU for three years prior to taking over the helm.  During her stint as Head Coach she produced One All-American (Steeplechase), Three Academic All-Americans, Two National Qualifiers, Four Conference Champions, 22 All-Conference Performers, and Four University Records.  Her commitment to academic excellence was demonstrated when here 2001 Men's & Women’s Cross Country Teams were Named to the-National All-Academic Team

Coach Hoey graduated from
West Chester University with a Degree in Physical Education and was an All-Conference Cross Country and Track & Field athlete.  Her tremendous work ethic and dedication helped her flourish as a post-collegiate runner where she competed in the 2000 Olympic Trials (Steeplechase), and was a member of 2000 USA Paralympic Team which competed in Sydney Australia.  In 2001 Coach Kristina Hoey competed in the USA National Track & Field Championships (Steeplechase), and was the 2001 Olympic Development Steeplechase champion at the prestigious Penn Relays, where she set the meet record.  She is also USA Track & Field Level 2 certified and is working towards her level 3 certification.
Coach Hoey works with the Women's Cross Country team and the Men's and Women's middle distance and distance runners during the track & field season.

Hoey is married to Head Track and Field Coach Nate Hoey. The couple recently welcomed their first child -- a daughter, Chase Maya, in April of 2007.
