2004 Cross Country
Season in Review

The 2004 Cross Country season saw numerous great performances and was highlighted by both Men’s and Women’s teams sweeping the ODAC Championships!!

The Generals opened up the season at home with the annual Generals Invitational.  Next on the schedule was a trip to New York.  Both teams had excellent races in harsh conditions at the NYU invitational. W&L returned home and hosted the homecoming quad meet.  The Virginia DII/III State meet was next on the agenda with both teams coming up victorious!   It was off to Gettysburg Pennsylvania next for a flat and fast course.  Preparing for the ODAC meet a week off let everyone get focused and ready for the meets to come.  We traveled back to Peak View course for the ODAC championship meet where both teams came out on top!!  It had been the first time since 1985 that both the Men’s team and the Women’s team won the ODAC championship in the same year.  Regionals were next and the Washington and Lee harriers traveled to Atlanta for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship meet.  Both teams had an individual qualifier for the NCAA Cross Country Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.  The National Cross Country meet was a great experience for both runners.
