
Outdoor ODAC Championships
The Generals Track & Field teams battled windy and raining conditions as they competed at the ODAC Championships on Saturday with 24 differnt student-athletes placing in the meet! In addition W&L saw Three Individual Conference Championships and Four All ODAC performances (finishing in the top two). Nathan Johnson was named Athlete-of-the-Meet for the second year in a row defending his difficult 1,500m and 5,000m double win. Also in the women's 5,000m Lindsay Erickson won shatering the championship and stadium records in the process. The women's 4x100 relay of Huntley Rodes, Sara Behmerwohld, Kim Gunst and Meredith Walker set a new school record in the relay.
Steve Chambers finished 3rd in the 5,000m (16:08.80) after running in the 1500m as well. Fourth place finishes were achieved by Ryan Edge in the High Jump with a leap of 6-0. Chris Walker in the Shot Put (40-6.25). The 4x100m relay of Brian Krupczak, Norman Senior, Lee Stinnett and Larry Clark (44.70). Brian Krupczak also crossed the line 5th in the 100m (11.50) and the 4x400 relay of Norman Senior, Jack Jeong, Larry Clark and Kevin Donovan finished 5th. Sixth place showings were turned in by Walker Duncan in the Hammer Throw (122-6) and Andrew Fischer in the Javelin (149-10).
For the women, Emily Barker placed second in the Shot Put (35-3.25) and also placed third in the Javelin (94-2). Third place finishes came from Liz Brandler in the Pole Vault (10-4), she came back to finish 5th in the Triple Jump (33-8.5). The 4x400m relay of Sara Behmerwohld, Kim Gunst, Huntley Rodes and Meredith Walker also placed 4th. Meredith Walker finished 4th in the 100m (13.44) and Sara Behmerwohld placed 4th in both the 100 hurdles (16.69) and the 400 hurdles (70.03). Fifth place performances came from Kim Gunst in the 400m (63.66), Mary Christopher in the 800m (2:30.90), Lindsay Erickson in the 1500m (5:09.70), Huntley Rodes in the 400 hurdles (71.37). Sixth place results came from Diana Dozier in the 400m (65.89), Jenny Ratzel in the 800m (2:32.40), Huntley Rodes in the Triple Jump (33-6.5), Casey Sharpe in the 400 hurdles (74.40) and Cagla Defterali in the Long Jump (15-8.5).
