Coastal Carolina Invitational

 

 

The Washington and Lee Track & Field teams headed south to compete in the Coastal Carolina University Invitational.  2 first place performances, 12 Top 5 finishes and 1 School Record headlined the meet.

 

 

For the women, Elizabeth Webb won the 1,500m running 4:54.70 and came back to place 2nd in the 3,000m running 10:50.11.  In the same 3,000m race Kat Telfeyan placed 5th in 11:18.72.  Becca Taylor won the 3,000m Steeplechase running 12:25.75.  She was the first female in W&L history to compete in the event and established a new school record.   Dorothy Todd placed 4th in the 1,500m running 5:10.19.  Sallie Armstrong was 7th in the 400 hurdles finishing in 70.42.  The 4x400m relay team of Tara Hildenbrand, Sallie Armstrong, Stephanie Stelter and Stacy Doornbos finished 2nd running 4:13.37

 

The men were led by Robbie Varipapa who placed 3rd in the 1,500m running 4:09.41.  Vance Berry placed 4th in the 1,500m (4:10.44) and came back to place 6th in the 3,000m running 9:25.94.  Michael Keenan was 3rd in the Javelin with a PR toss of 138-5.  Ben Goetsch was tied for 3rd in the High Jump (6-0.75) and Alex Jackson was 4th in the 3,000m running 9:15.07.
